About the Pegasos

The foreign language database of the Collection of Classical Antiquities of the Museum of Fine Arts greatly differs from its Hungarian counterpart, Hyperion. Hyperion aims to connect the material kept in the Collection with present-day Hungarian culture: not only does it provide information on the works of art, but also places them in different contexts explored by studies on classical antiquity. Pegasos, however, intends to make the material accessible for classical archaeology worldwide.

Our long-term plan is to use new possibilities offered by digital technology and establish a connection between other scientific databases and the material of the Collection of Classical Antiquities in Budapest, the only comprehensive collection of antiquities in the Central European region, between Vienna, Thessaloniki, Warsaw and Saint Petersburg.
